Les Hortensias du Lac sits on the shore of Hossegor’s marine lake, with the Atlantic just across the road and pine trees all around. The setting is one of its biggest strengths: you get the calm of the lake, easy access to the ocean, and a slightly removed feel from the busier parts of town. The hotel has 25 rooms and suites and feels much more like a refined surf lodge than a classic seaside hotel. There is a strong wellness side to the stay, with a substantial spa, a heated outdoor pool facing the lake, a fitness room, and yoga and pilates in high season.

Being 400 metres from the beach while looking straight onto the lake is what makes it feel so particular.
