Casa Montelongo is a two-suite adults-only design hotel in the historic village of La Oliva, in northern Fuerteventura. The restored 19th-century house once belonged to the culturally active Montelongo family and included both their residence and a theatre and ballroom. Architect Néstor Pérez Batista retained those two historic elements and reworked them using stone, wood, clay, lime and contemporary design. There is almost no conventional hotel infrastructure, which is very much the point. The two 80 and 90 sqm suites share a long courtyard pool and solarium, breakfast arrives privately at 10:00 or 11:00, and each suite has its own kitchen and living space. La Oliva makes a quiet inland base for exploring Tindaya, El Cotillo and the dunes and beaches around Corralejo.

Óscar Latuag's courtyard sculpture references cochineal, orchil and barilla, casting changing shadows across the wall as the sun moves.
Breakfast stays completely private
Fresh, seasonal produce from small Fuerteventura suppliers is served in each suite at 10:00 or 11:00 every morning.
The restoration stays rooted locally
Stone, timber, clay, lime and glass connect Pérez Batista's contemporary intervention with traditional Canarian construction and the island's material palette.
