Why we picked this hotel

Quinta Filippa combines beautiful contemporary interiors with serious wellness, farm-led cooking and just 16 rooms hidden in the Portuguese countryside.

Hotel description

Quinta Filippa is a family-owned retreat set across 40 hectares of Portuguese countryside near Leiria. Originally a family holiday home, the estate has been transformed into an intimate sanctuary with 16 rooms and suites. Reclaimed wood, natural stone and custom-made furniture give the interiors a warm, residential character, while private outdoor spaces and gardens keep guests connected to the landscape. Days revolve around the 25-metre heated saltwater pool, saunas and a thoughtful programme of yoga, meditation and outdoor activities. Seasonal meals bring ingredients from the estate and nearby producers to the table, with breakfast, lunch, dinner and refreshments included in the stay. Between guided walks, wellness treatments and afternoons by the pool, Quinta Filippa offers a considered countryside escape with time to enjoy the surroundings at your own pace.

Hotel location

This is great

A 40-hectare wellness sanctuary
Sixteen rooms sit among gardens, woodland, ponds and walking trails designed around nature, movement and a slower rhythm.

A 25-metre heated saltwater pool
The long outdoor pool anchors an impressive wellness setup with sauna, steam, infrared heat, yoga, Pilates and gym spaces.

The land shapes every meal
Vegetables, herbs and fruit from the estate guide changing menus, supported by ingredients from nearby farmers, fishermen and producers.

Three meals are part of the stay
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, refreshments and two daily group activities are included rather than treated as optional extras.

A 1906 village house remains
The original adobe home and communal bread oven survive at the heart of a much larger contemporary retreat.

Only sixteen rooms and suites
Eight different categories range from intimate courtyard rooms to the 62 sqm Filippa Suite overlooking the garden and pool.

Our take on the stay

The 25-metre heated saltwater pool is reason enough to slow down here, especially when the rest of the day can move between yoga, the garden and long meals.
