WHY WE PICKED THIS HOTEL

This is one of the few hotels where the surroundings shape the whole stay. You are sleeping inside a working sherry estate, with tasting spaces, old patios, and the historic centre just outside the gates.

HOTEL DESCRIPTION

Hotel Bodega Tío Pepe sits inside the historic González Byass winery in the heart of Jerez, right beside the cathedral and the Alcázar. It feels very different from a standard city stay, with quiet winery courtyards, old bodega buildings and the sense of being tucked inside one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. The hotel has 27 rooms, and the atmosphere is calm, understated and closely tied to the winery around it. There’s a rooftop pool looking out over Jerez, a small fitness area, and breakfast is served in the lounge rather than as a big buffet setup, which suits the hotel’s quieter, more intimate feel.

Our take on the stay

Eliza

The rooftop pool looks straight towards the cathedral and Alcázar, which gives the hotel one of the strongest views in Jerez.

HOTEL LOCATION

THIS IS GREAT

  • A rooftop pool and terrace facing the cathedral and Alcázar, which makes heading back to the hotel feel like part of the day rather than the end of it

  • A setting inside the González Byass winery, with old bodega buildings, patios, and cellar spaces giving the whole stay a very specific sense of place

  • Pedro Nolasco Gardens and La Recachita terrace, both set opposite the cathedral and giving the hotel more outdoor space than most city stays in Jerez

  • Food and wine spaces on site, including the rooftop bar and the hotel restaurant, which make it easy to stay within the estate into the evening

  • A gym and fitness area with massage and winetherapy, which adds a more complete hotel offering than you might expect from such a heritage-led property

  • A location right in the historic centre, close to the cathedral, Alcázar, tabancos, and flamenco spots, while still feeling separate from the usual city-hotel setup

Jerez de la Frontera

Jerez de la Frontera

Jerez de la Frontera is shaped by sherry, flamenco, and Andalusian horse culture, where wide plazas and palm-lined streets carry a quieter, more traditional rhythm than the nearby coast. In the historic centre, close to the cathedral and the Alcázar, many of the city’s most important bodegas sit behind whitewashed walls and shaded courtyards. Hotel Bodega Tio Pepe is set within one of these working winery estates, placing you right inside the atmosphere that defines Jerez.
