WHY WE PICKED THIS HOTEL
Set on an 80-hectare estate outside Ostuni, Masseria San Paolo Grande combines old stone buildings, organic farmland, and a rock-carved pool. The scale stays intimate, but the land around it makes the stay feel expansive.
HOTEL DESCRIPTION
Masseria San Paolo Grande is set in the countryside outside Ostuni, surrounded by olive trees and open land in the Itria Valley. It feels quiet, private and properly rural, with a setting that is much more about slowing down in nature than staying near the coast or in town. A small adults-only property, with around 11 rooms, the atmosphere is intimate and low-key. With the infinity pool, breakfast, winery and outdoor spaces shaping the stay more than big hotel facilities or a social scene.
Our take on the stay
Eliza

The estate is what gives the hotel its weight. Eighty hectares of olive groves, arable fields, and gardens make the countryside feel like the whole experience, not just the view from the room.
HOTEL LOCATION
THIS IS GREAT
An 80-hectare estate outside Ostuni, with olive groves, fields, and gardens that make the landscape feel inseparable from the stay
A striking natural pool carved into the rock, which gives the property one of its most distinctive visual elements and feels much more specific than a standard hotel pool
Stone rooms and suites that keep the original masseria character visible, so the architecture still shapes the experience rather than disappearing behind renovation
A restaurant built around organic raw materials from the estate, giving the food a direct connection to the land around it
A quiet setting close enough to reach Ostuni easily, but far enough out to feel properly rural once you are on the property

Ostuni
Ostuni rises above the Apulian countryside in a cluster of whitewashed buildings, its narrow streets winding through the hilltop with views over olive groves that stretch toward the Adriatic. Just outside the city, the landscape opens into centuries-old farmland dotted with traditional masserie and dry stone walls. Masseria San Paolo Grande is set within this countryside, surrounded by olive trees and quiet rural roads that reflect the slower pace of the region.
