WHY WE PICKED THIS HOTEL

Zoku stands out for giving you Amsterdam in a more liveable format. The loft layout, rooftop coworking, and community-focused spaces make it feel more like settling into the city than simply checking into a hotel.

HOTEL DESCRIPTION

Zoku Amsterdam is in the Plantage / Weesperbuurt area, just outside the busiest part of the centre, close to Weesperplein and within walking distance of canals, ARTIS and central sights. It feels urban and well connected, but a little more local than staying in the core tourist streets. This is not a traditional hotel. Zoku is built around loft-style apartment rooms designed for living and working, with full kitchens, tables for meals or meetings, and strong shared rooftop social spaces. It is best understood as a hybrid of hotel, serviced apartment and coworking stay.

Our take on the stay

Bob

Zoku’s rooftop social spaces bring together coworking, the Living Room, the greenhouse, terraces, and the hotel’s main food and drink spaces, which gives the building a completely different rhythm from a normal lobby hotel.

HOTEL LOCATION

THIS IS GREAT

  • 133 lofts and hotel rooms designed around living and working, which gives the stay a much more residential feel than a standard Amsterdam hotel

  • Loft categories with real kitchens, large work-and-dine tables, and elevated beds, so even the standard units feel built for more than just sleeping

  • A rooftop setup that brings together coworking, meeting rooms, terraces, greenhouse, bar, and restaurant, making the social and work side of the hotel a real part of the experience

  • A concept clearly aimed at longer stays, remote work, and city living, rather than a more conventional short-stay hotel format

  • A location in the Eastern Canal District, three minutes from public transport, which keeps you central without placing you in the busiest tourist core

  • Regular coworking access, community events, and rooftop day passes, which make the hotel feel more like an active hub than a place people disappear into

Amsterdam

Amsterdam

Amsterdam’s canal ring gradually gives way to broader streets and quieter residential areas, where the city feels more local and less defined by visitors. In the eastern part of the centre, around Weesperstraat and the Plantage district, you’ll find a mix of green spaces, cultural institutions, and everyday city life. Zoku is set here, within easy reach of the canals while being part of a calmer, more lived-in side of Amsterdam.
