Why we picked this hotel

Eight rooms inside a historic building right on the Royal Route in Malá Strana, a few steps from Charles Bridge, it gives you one of those rare Prague stays where the city’s best streets start the moment you walk out the door.

Hotel description

Domus Balthasar is a small boutique hotel in Malá Strana, set on the Royal Route just a few steps from Charles Bridge. The building has real old-Prague character, with timber beams, high ceilings, and a more intimate feel than a standard city hotel. It is the kind of place that gives you one of Prague’s prettiest neighbourhoods right outside the door, while still feeling calm once you are back in your room. With only 8 rooms and suites, the atmosphere stays personal and quiet. Some of the larger suite categories come with a kitchenette, which is especially useful for longer stays, and breakfast is served at Miners Café in the same building, just around the corner from the main entrance. Check-in is partly digital, but there is also a reception across the street if you want a more traditional arrival.

Hotel location

This is great

  • Historic boutique hotel on Mostecká Street in Malá Strana, right on Prague’s Royal Route

  • Just steps from Charles Bridge, with Prague Castle and Old Town easily walkable from the front door

  • Only 8 rooms, which keeps the atmosphere quiet and personal

  • Bright, spacious rooms that feel more generous than many old-town stays

  • Reception is just across the street, so arrival stays easy without losing the townhouse feel

  • A strong choice for travellers who want to do Prague almost entirely on foot

Our take on the stay

Domus Balthasar feels rooted in Prague rather than styled around it. The address, the scale, and the historic setting do most of the work.

About the destination

Prague

Prague’s Malá Strana feels like a quieter side of the city, where baroque palaces, embassy gardens, and cobbled streets unfold beneath Prague Castle. Just steps from the Charles Bridge on historic Mostecká Street, Domus Balthasar sits inside a restored 16th-century townhouse surrounded by some of the city’s most beautiful architecture. From here, it’s easy to cross the bridge into Old Town or wander the peaceful lanes of the Lesser Town at your own pace.
