AlmaLusa Alfama is a 25-room boutique hotel on Campo das Cebolas, at the foot of Alfama and around 100 metres from the Tagus. The current building is post-earthquake and Pombaline in character, but its roots reach back to the 12th century and it incorporates the historic Arco das Portas do Mar, once part of Lisbon's medieval defences. Roman-era remains have also been found within the property. The location is particularly easy for exploring old Lisbon. Breakfast is downstairs at Delfina Café, the Sé and Praça do Comércio are about four minutes away, and the lanes of Alfama rise immediately behind the hotel. River-facing rooms give the stay a stronger sense of place, while the 25-room scale and 24-hour reception keep it intimate.
